I'm still around

Gosh, I did not realize that I have not posted in a very long time....that will change now. I have started a new medium, scratchart and am loving it. Here are two of my first attempts...have a lot to learn.....and don't worry I am not giving up pastels, just branching out some.

Extra Help for me

My grand daughter likes to stand on the back of my easel and play peek-a- boo......I have to take my paintings down so she will not pound on the back of the them. She is a little mad at me right now because we put up a gate and she cannot get into the studio anymore.

Little Petey

I had a bird about this color when I was a child and this one reminded me of him. One day I came home from school, I think I was in about the third grade, my mom had left the back door open when she washed the floor and he flew out. I can remember standing in the backyard yelling for Petey to come back. Years later my sister who was about 3 at the time remembers stepping on a bird....do not know what was worst for my mom, the lie to me and watching me call for him in the backyard or seeing my sister step on the bird. Petey...here is to you.

Background and final check

Almost done, my friend has a Mexican theme in her kitchen I thought this background would fit in with the mat colors really making the dogs pop.

Painting away

This is done on La Carte paper, the paper is about 9 by 12, although it will not be that size. I did fix Vegas's neck also on the final piece.

Drawing

I first did the drawing on paper, I did make some minor adjustments on the drawing but not many

Tipsy and Vegas

Here are two photos of my friends dogs, Vegas and Tipsy. She wanted them in the same painting together. I had to use two different photos, one taken inside and one outside to achieve this. Dogs are just like kids, they just would not sit still for their photo.

Garden at San Juan Capistrano

Last summer we visited the mission at San Juan Capistrano. I remember visited this mission as a child and although it looked much different then I remembered the feelings and peacefulness of the mission still exists.

Not Quite Finished Yet

I am just playing around with the background at this point. Not sure if I like the light color or not, also have a few tweaks I need to do on the wheels.....I am going to let this set for a few days and then post the finished piece.
